So...it's been a while since my last post, so let me catch y'all up to speed:
To begin my 9 month journey, I arrived at the Toronto Airport with a backpack, a purse, and a medium-sized rolling bag. Some people might be impressed that I packed so lightly. Others may be worried that I didn't bring enough. And still others, knowing me, might just be confused. Not to worry y'all, I shipped my bag. Yes, shipped it! I had a momentary freak-out when I realized that, for my slightly over-sized and over-weight bag, some airline (which shall remain nameless...hint: it rhymes with American...) wanted to charge me $225! So, my genius mother, suggested I UPS it. SO...on Thursday, before I left Friday, I rolled my over-sized and over-weight bag 7 blocks to the UPS, paid $100, and expect to see that bag on Monday here in Toronto! Thanks UPS...no thanks to the airline that rhymes with...well, you know.
I rode to our beautiful apartment complex with a girl who I met in baggage claim. "Umm...are you a princess too?" Thank goodness, because that might have sounded very odd to a random, non-princess stranger.
Our apartments are truly amazing! I have not had a dishwasher or washer and dryer in over THREE AND A HALF YEARS!!!!!!!!! ...it's the little things. : )
We had our first "rehearsal," more like meeting, today and I was reminded why Disney is so wonderful. One of our directors, who has worked for Disney for 28 years, told us a very touching story about a young girl with terminal cancer whose greatest wish was to meet Tigger. Well, she got to meet Tigger and ended up using the joy and light he gave her to beat cancer. We heard of a mother, so moved by how much care and love Goofy showed her daughter, that she wrote a letter of thanks... a typed, two page letter! And a few special characters even visited us LIVE! Man, can they dance!!
As a two and a half year old visiting Disney World, I remember refusing to ride on any Dumbo but the one with the pink kerchief, because she, and only she, was Dumbo's mother. That wonderful employee allowed us to wait a long while until the pink one was free....he didn't have to do that. He did that because his main goal was making that child happy and keeping the magic alive for her.
As I begin this journey, I feel really proud and privileged that I get to help keep that magic alive. Life is magical, for so many reasons. And no matter if you're acting, singing, selling, fixing, running, dancing, teaching, preaching- that's what it's all about: keeping the magic, whatever that is to you, alive!
Enjoy the photos and I hope y'all have a good week and a blessed Palm Sunday!

p.s. Toronto is nice...but the milk comes in bags...I'm not sure what to think of that, or how to drink it... : )
